Video of my interview on Dublin City FM’s Council Matters

John O’Donovan is running as an Independent candidate, for Dublin City Council, in the Crumlin/Kimmage ward. This teacher, broadcaster and journalist name checks old Labour stalwart Frank Cluskey as an example of the character he considers is lacking in the present manifestation of the party.

On CouncilMatters on DublinCityfm, John describes himself to Colin McStay as a moderate leftwinger who is seeking election due to broken promises, ineffectual Government and local representation, continuing and draining austerity, lack of creativity and lack of job prospects.

He shares with listeners innovative proposals to designed to enhance local employment creation opportunities. John wants to go even further to ensure employment opportunities are shared locally and if elected is proposing to insert a Community Benefit Clause into all major public works projects in the area.

John castigates the Council for permitting property speculators to sustain anti-social eyesores and is proposing a site maintenance levy to act an a deterrent to neglect.
